Pod Point Solo 3s
The Pod Point Solo 3S 7kW home charger is a smart, reliable solution for charging your electric vehicle at home. Designed for speed, safety, and convenience, it’s available in both tethered and untethered models. The Solo is available in a variety of charging speeds, 7kW is the most commonly used, but 3.6kW & 22kW are also available, giving you the flexibility to choose the option that best suits your needs.

- Tethered: Available for £1,049, this charger features a permanently attached Type 1 or 2 cable, offering added convenience for those who prefer an integrated charging solution.

Whether you need a Type 1 or Type 2 connection depends on your vehicle. Most new electric and plug-in hybrid cars use a Type 2 connection, though some older models still use Type 1, so it’s important to check before ordering.

Energy Tariff - EV Exclusive
In Partnership with Pod Point, our customers can switch their residential energy tariff to the Pod Point EV Exclusive from EDF. With overnight electricty rates from just 8.49p per kWh.
How much will it cost to charge?
If you charge your Volkswagen ID.3 using the Pod Point EV Exclusive tariff from EDF, you could be driving for as little as 2p per mile. Your 20-mile commute to work would cost just 40p, and a full charge giving 347 miles (WLTP) would cost only £6.94.

FAQs
What happens if my installation is non-standard? ▶
Non-standard charger installations may incur an additional cost, such as groundwork. Once your order is placed, PodPoint be in touch to better understand your requirements and produce a no-obligation quote for any additional works. Following quotations, should you choose to proceed with a PodPoint installation, you will be liable for the extra costs. If you decide not to proceed, you’ll receive a full refund.
How long does it take to install a Pod Point home charger? ▶
Installation typically takes between two to three hours, depending on the complexity of the installation. For non-standard installation, the Pod Point team will advise you on what to expect.
Do I need permission to install an EV Charger? ▶
No permission is required to install an EV charger if you own a house with private parking. However, if you rent your home, have a shared ownership agreement or own a flat, you must obtain permission from your landlord or property manager prior to installation.
Can I charge my EV without the App? ▶
If you simply wish to plug in and charge, you do not need to link charger to the Pod Point App, it will charge whenever you plug in. However. the App supports you to make use of Charging Schedules, and the Solar and Grid modes.
Can I connect my Solo charger to a 3 pin plug? ▶
No, It can’t be connected to a 3-pin plug socket; the Solo charger needs to be connected to the main electrical supply so it can charge at a rate of 7kW. The Pod Point Experts will give you guidance on how and where the charger will be connected.
I've completed my order, how long until installation? ▶
Pod Point are currently completing Standard Installations within 6 weeks following the order of your new Solo 3s. You will recieve updates from the Pod Point team.
Do I have to switch to the EDF X Pod Point EV Exclusive Tariff? ▶
No. If you are happy with your current energy provider and electricty tariff you do not have to switch to the Pod Point EV Exclusive tariff from EDF. At Lease Electric, we also reccomend Good Energy's Renewable EV Tariff.
However, if you opt for the new subscription service Pod Drive, If you’re on a smart tariff (e.g. Intelligent Octopus Go, Agile, OVO Charge Anytime, Scottish Power EV Optimise, etc.), unfortunately you won’t be able to subscribe.
Is charging an EV cheaper than petrol or diesel? ▶
In many cases, EVs continue to benefit from significant savings on the cost of fuel. Charging a medium-sized electric car at home can cost less than half the price of filling up an equivalent petrol vehicle. To find out more, read our Blog: Cost of Charging an electric car.

Your charger needs to a solid wall to attach to, a clear path from your electric meter box to where the charger will be installed (up to 15m) and your fuse box needs to be on the ground floor with straightforward access for the engineers. If you place an order for a vehicle that includes a home charger within the lease cost (whether via salary sacrifice or contract hire) and subsequently cancel the order, you will be liable for a cancellation charge of £875 + VAT (£1,050 total) to cover the cost of the home charger and standard installation. Our standard Order Cancellation terms are also applicable.
