Now it’s the turn of the Vision Neue Klasse X (below), a Sports Activity Vehicle, which will soon join BMW's lineup of concept EVs due to begin production next year. The BMW Vision Neue Klasse sedan and BMW Vision Neue Klasse X SAV represent BMW's next-generation core vehicles with innovative technologies.

Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG said “Together with the BMW Vision Neue Klasse, the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X showcases the breadth of our future BMW model line-up. The Neue Klasse reflects the variety of all the models that customers want today and in the future – from sporty sedan, with all its derivatives, to modern SAV family,In this way, we are underlining that the Neue Klasse is much more than just a car or a specific concept; it is redefining the BMW brand – and, at the same time, will be more BMW than ever.”

Battery and Range

The Neue Klasse X concept showcases cutting-edge chassis and battery technology, marking a significant advancement for BMW's electric vehicles. This model introduces the 800v architecture for the first time, similar to the technology found in the Porsche Taycan and Hyundai Ioniq 5, enabling it to charge 30 percent faster than current electric BMW. The lithium-ion battery cells are 20 percent more energy-dense than BMW's current models. With a design aimed to be 20 percent more aerodynamic than the BMW iX3, experts speculate a potential range of up to 400 miles.

Design:

“The BMW Vision Neue Klasse X provides a look ahead to the X models of the Neue Klasse. The same principles apply to our Sport Activity Vehicles: electric, digital and circular, The X models will always remain strong in character: monolithic, clean and with a very distinctive vertical interpretation of the BMW light signature.” says Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design.

The new brand look includes vertically aligned LED units and a redesigned three-dimensional BMW kidney grille with vertically aligned and backlit contours.Together, the headlights and kidney grille create a lighting effect that is activated as the driver approaches the vehicle and continues in the interior. The rear design features powerful design elements like 3D-printed elements are individually controlled with variable intensity for a striking depth effect.

The Vision Neue Klasse X prioritizes sustainability with resource-efficient production and a reduced CO2 footprint. Interior materials include plant-based, mineral-based, and petroleum-free surfaces, utilising maritime plastics in selected components, promoting recyclability and sustainability.
