These vehicles now come with an automatic £1,500 reduction with no paperwork required from consumers.

Launched on 15 July 2025, the ECG scheme offers two levels of discounts: £3,750 for the cleanest EVs under £37,000 (Band 1), and £1,500 for other qualifying models also priced below £37,000 (Band 2).

The scheme is backed by £650 million in funding, set to run until the end of the 2028–29 financial year, or sooner, if funds are exhausted.

To qualify, vehicles must meet strict environmental and sustainability standards, including commitments to reduce lifecycle CO₂ emissions and align with science-based targets.

Only vehicles that have been approved by the Department for Transport are eligible for the grant, and the discounts apply only to new registrations made from 16 July 2025 onward.

While Citroën is the first brand to have models approved under the new scheme, more manufacturers are expected to follow suit in the coming weeks.
