The Hyundai KONA Electric has now qualified for the full £3,750 Electric Car Grant (ECG), making one of the UK's most popular electric SUVs even better value for drivers considering the switch to electric.
Previously eligible for the Band 2 grant of £1,500, the KONA Electric has now been approved for the highest level of support available under the Government's Electric Car Grant scheme. This means customers can now benefit from an additional £2,250, reducing the purchase price by the full £3,750.
Why Has the Grant Increased?
The increase follows Hyundai's successful submission demonstrating the environmental credentials of the KONA Electric's manufacturing process and supply chain.
The Electric Car Grant, administered by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), awards Band 1 status to vehicles that meet the highest environmental standards, alongside the scheme's existing vehicle eligibility and price cap requirements.
Even Better Value
With the Electric Car Grant applied, prices now start from £31,250, down from the original list price of £35,000.
The KONA Electric is available with two battery options:
-
48.4kWh Standard Range – 156PS
-
65.4kWh Long Range – 218PS with up to 319 miles (WLTP) of driving range
A Proven Electric SUV
Since its launch, the Hyundai KONA Electric has become one of Europe's best-selling electric SUVs, with more than 100,000 vehicles sold across the continent.
Combining impressive range, practical family-friendly dimensions and Hyundai's strong reputation for reliability, it's easy to see why the KONA Electric continues to be a popular choice for both private and business drivers.
