Kia has unveiled the EV2, a European-built B-segment electric SUV designed to become the brand’s most accessible entry point into its growing EV line-up. Compact in size but ambitious in scope, the EV2 blends bold design, advanced technology, and everyday practicality to meet the needs of modern European households.
Building on the success of Kia’s EV models including the EV6, EV9, EV3, EV4 and the recently launched EV5, the EV2 brings the brand’s electric expertise into Europe’s second-largest automotive segment. As demand for compact electric SUVs continues to rise, the EV2 strengthens Kia’s position in a market expected to play a key role in the transition to electric mobility by the end of the decade.
Design
The EV2 follows Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy, combining clean surfaces with bold, upright SUV proportions. Measuring around four metres in length, it is tailored for urban environments while maintaining a confident road presence inspired by Kia’s larger EVs.
Key exterior elements include:
- Vertical daytime running lights
- Kia’s latest Star Map Light Signature
- A pronounced shoulder line and robust wheel arches
Wheel options range from 16- to 19-inch, while exterior finishes include solid, metallic, pearl, and matte choices. The GT-Line variant adds a more lifestyle-focused edge, featuring body-coloured garnishes, high-gloss accents, and a sportier front design.
Inside the Cabin
Inside, the EV2 adopts a calm, open layout inspired by a Picnic Box concept. Fabric-rich materials, a wraparound dashboard, and intuitive controls create a sense of space and comfort that exceeds expectations for the segment.
The cabin is centred around Kia’s latest infotainment technology:
- 12.3-inch digital driver cluster
- 5.3-inch climate control display
- 12.3-inch central touchscreen
Ambient lighting and eco-friendly materials reinforce the modern atmosphere. As Kia’s most compact EV, the EV2 also introduces ccNC Lite, a cost-efficient infotainment option that mirrors the layout and core features of Kia’s full ccNC system, including OTA updates and Kia Upgrades.
Space
Despite its compact exterior, the EV2 offers interior space comparable to larger vehicles. A 2,565mm wheelbase enables flexible seating configurations, including:
- Five-seat layout
- Four-seat layout with independent sliding and reclining rear seats
Rear legroom extends and cargo capacity reaches 403 litres in the four-seat configuration. A 15-litre front trunk adds further practicality.
Range
Two battery options allow customers to choose the range that best fits their lifestyle:
- 42.2kWh standard-range battery: up to 196 miles
- 61.0kWh long-range battery up to 278 miles
Battery & Charging
Both battery versions use a 400V architecture and support fast DC charging from 10–80% in approximately 30 minutes.
For the first time at launch in a Kia model, the EV2 supports both:
- 11kW AC charging
- 22kW AC charging
This reflects the widespread use of AC charging infrastructure across Europe and offers greater flexibility for home and public charging.
The EV2 also introduces advanced EV functionality, including:
- Integrated EV Route Planner
- Plug & Charge capability via Kia Charge
- Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) support (market dependent)
Sustainability
Kia has applied its ten material solutions across the EV2, including:
- Bio-based plastics
- Bio-PU seat upholstery
- Recycled PET carpets and felts made from fishing nets
- Bio- and BTX-free exterior paint
The EV2 is produced at Kia’s Žilina plant in Slovakia, reducing transport emissions, supporting European jobs, and reinforcing Kia’s long-term commitment to responsible, market-focused electric mobility.
Availability
The Kia EV2 will be the second fully electric model produced at the Žilina facility, in Slovakia. Production is planned in two phases:
- February 2026: standard-range model
- June 2026: long-range and GT-Line variants
Market-specific launch timings, including UK pricing and specifications, will be confirmed closer to the UK Launch.
