Kia has recently unveiled new insights into the interior design of its Concept EV2, featured at the brand’s Transcend Journey exhibit during Milan Design Week 2025.
Positioned below the EV3 in Kia’s all-electric lineup, the Concept EV2 is a B-segment electric SUV that represents Kia’s forward-thinking approach to sustainable urban mobility, blending innovative design, functionality, and environmentally responsible materials.
Designed to be Compact
While official dimensions remain unconfirmed, the EV2 is expected to rival the Citroen e-C3, Renault 5, and VW ID.2, perfect for city living.
Similar in style to the EV 3 and the Flagship EV 9, the Concept EV 2 features a clean, boxy exterior with rugged SUV-like cladding. The brand's signature vertical LED headlights and low-mounted taillights add a modern touch.
Inside, this concept boasts 'Spacious Flexibility' ,the interior is a relaxing, open space designed around flexibility, everyday function, and eco-friendly materials.
The cabin’s layout maximises usability, with a flat-floor design, fold-up second-row seats, and sliding front seats for versatile use. Clever touches like portable Bluetooth door speakers, detachable cushions, and pop-up luggage dividers, all of which can be used to enhance leisure activities like a city picnic.
Kia’s materials innovation shines in this concept EV. The dashboard and door panels feature Simplifyber Fybron™, a cellulose-based compound made from renewable resources. Mycelium materials, developed with Biomyc, offer bio-based insulation and natural textures, while AmpliTex™ flax-fibre composites (via Bcomp) replace traditional plastics in structural components for lighter, more sustainable builds.
Battery and Range
There has been no information shared about the range and charging capabilies of the Kia EV2, however many expect this new EV to launch with two battery options:
- 42kWh battery: 180 miles (WLTP)
- 58kWh battery: 270 miles (WLTP)
Charging should be quick, with 10–80% top-ups taking around 30 minutes via fast charging. The EV2 may also support Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) tech—ideal for powering devices or feeding energy back to the grid.
Performance
Performance-wise, the 58kWh version could hit 0–62 mph in around 7.5 seconds, thanks to a 200bhp front-mounted motor. A lower-output variant will serve the entry-level trim, and we expect a sporty GT model to join the lineup in the future.
Release
Aimed at being one of the most accessible EVs in Europe, the Kia EV2 is targeting a starting price around £25,000. The final production model is expected to debut in late 2025, with UK sales beginning in 2026.
