The Affordable EV Hatch Ready to Disrupt the Market

First revealed at the 2025 Munich Motor Show, the Leapmotor B05 brings something different to the table. In a market dominated by electric SUVs, this sleek five-door hatchback is designed to stand out. With bold styling, smart technology, and a price point aimed at value-conscious drivers, the B05 is shaping up to be one of the most significant EV launches from Stellantis in recent years.

Bold Design

The B05 has made big first impression. Frameless doors, flush-fitting handles, slim LED headlights, and a full-width rear light bar combine to give it a premium feel.

Leapmotor describes it as a “sporty-looking hatch,” and with its coupe-inspired roofline, that description feels spot on. Compared with many family hatches in this segment, the B05 has a more athletic, dynamic stance.

Available in eye-catching shades such as Lightning Yellow and Morgan Pink, the B05 has been designed to turn heads while taking on well-established rivals.

In terms of size, the B05 sits in the C-segment. At 4,430mm long, 1,880mm wide and 1,520mm tall, it’s one of the broadest cars in its class, giving it a planted road presence. Built on Leapmotor’s latest LEAP 3.5 platform, it’s similar in footprint to a Vauxhall Astra.

Tech-Focused Cabin

Step inside, and the B05 continues its modern theme. A clean, minimalist dashboard is centred around a 14.6-inch touchscreen, supported by a smaller digital driver display.

Early previews suggest UK versions will arrive with a strong list of standard features, likely including:

  • A panoramic glass roof

  • Heated and ventilated seats

  • 360-degree parking camera system

  • Ambient interior lighting

  • Infotainment powered by Snapdragon chips

Everyday Performance

Full UK specifications are still to be confirmed, but the B05 is expected to launch with a 215bhp motor driving the front wheels. That’s enough for smooth, confident performance, with an estimated 0–62mph time of around 7 seconds. This puts it firmly in line with competitors such as the VW ID.3 and MG4 EV.

Range and Charging

The Leapmotor B05 will be offered with two battery options:

  • 56.2kWh pack – up to 224 miles WLTP range

  • 67.1kWh pack – up to 260 miles WLTP range

Charging capability is equally impressive:

  • DC rapid charging up to 168kW – 10–80% in under 30 minutes

  • AC charging up to 11kW – ideal for home and workplace setups

Price and UK Availability

The Leapmotor B05 is set to arrive in the UK in 2026, with prices starting below £30,000.

That puts it in direct competition with some of the best-selling EVs in the UK, including:

  • Volkswagen ID.3

  • MG4 EV

  • BYD Dolphin

  • Renault Megane E-Tech

European production will take place at Stellantis’s Zaragoza plant in Spain, helping the B05 avoid import tariffs and making it eligible for UK incentives such as the Electric Car Grant.

Leapmotor and Stellantis

Leapmotor has ambitious goals, backed by Stellantis. With a target of 1 million global sales by 2026, and a longer-term vision of 4 million annually within a decade, the B05 is central to the brand’s expansion plans.

It isn’t just another EV hatchback. The Leapmotor B05 is about making electric driving more accessible, combining bold design, cutting-edge tech, strong range, and competitive pricing into a package that challenges the established players.

As we await the UK launch of the Leapmotor B05, we’re delighted to already have the Leapmotor C10 and T03 available for our personal, business, and salary sacrifice customers.
