The wait is over. Polestar has officially unveiled the Polestar 5, a striking all-electric four-door performance Grand Tourer that combines Scandinavian minimalism with cutting-edge engineering and sustainability.
First previewed as the Precept concept in 2020, the Polestar 5 stays remarkably true to its design roots.
Performance
Available in two launch editions, the Polestar 5 brings serious numbers:
-
Polestar 5 Dual Motor Launch Edition – 550kW (748hp), 812Nm, 0–60mph in 3.8 seconds.
-
Polestar 5 Performance Launch Edition – 650kW (884hp), 1,015Nm, 0–60mph in 3.1 seconds.
Both are electronically limited to 155mph, powered by Polestar’s new in-house developed rear motor and an advanced 800V electrical architecture.
And despite the performance focus, range remains practical: up to 416 miles WLTP on the Dual Motor and 351 miles WLTP on the Performance, with charging speeds of up to X the Polestar 5's 112kWh battery can go from 10–80% in as little as 22 minutes.
Design
The Polestar 5 stretches nearly five metres long with taut, aerodynamic surfaces inspired by aircraft. The result is a sleek, wing-like profile with a Kamm-tail rear, a panoramic two-metre glass roof, and a drag coefficient of just 0.24.
Highlights include:
-
Signature dual-blade headlights with Pixel LED technology
-
SmartZone front end housing sensors and driver-assist tech
-
A flush, frameless glass design with retractable door handles
-
A rear lightbar with integrated aero features
Six exterior colours are available, including two striking matte finishes: Storm and Magnesium
Inside, the Polestar 5 is designed as a luxury 4+1 seater, optimised for four but practical enough for five. Front seats, developed with Recaro, combine a low driving position with Swedish comfort, while the rear seats recline individually for first-class travel.

Materials matter here. Polestar continues its focus on conscious sustainability:
-
Natural fibre composites from BComp replace traditional plastics
-
Econyl carpets made from recycled fishing nets
-
Recycled PET for headlining
-
Optional Bridge of Weir Nappa leather sourced responsibly
Technology takes centre stage with a 14.5-inch central display powered by Android Automotive OS with Google built-in, paired with a driver-focused digital cluster and head-up display. A Bowers & Wilkins 21-speaker system with 1,680W output completes the experience.
Built on a Bespoke Performance Platform
Underneath, the Polestar 5 sits on a brand-new bonded aluminium platform, delivering sports car-like torsional rigidity while keeping weight down. The structure incorporates 83% aluminium from renewable sources and 13% recycled aluminium, reducing CO2 emissions significantly.
Engineering highlights include:
-
Brembo four-piston brakes with lightweight 400mm discs.
-
Sophisticated suspension: passive BWI dampers on Dual Motor, MagneRide adaptive damping on Performance.
-
Bespoke Michelin tyres on 20–22” wheels.
The result? A GT that’s both comfortable on long journeys and sharp when pushed hard.
