The original Renault Twingo defined the A-segment. It was cheeky, clever, and full of personality a tiny car that made city driving fun. Three decades on, Renault is doing it again. The Twingo E-Tech Electric is set to transform the small car landscape once more, blending affordability, sustainability, and character in one irresistible package.
At a target price under £20,000, this all-electric reboot marks the start of Renault’s bold new Leap 100 programme a revolutionary approach that saw the car designed and built in just 100 weeks. Agile, efficient, and full of charm, it’s proof that driving electric can be joyful and accessible to everyone.
Design

The Twingo E-Tech Electric captures the essence of the original while looking straight to the future. There’s a familiar smile to its face the subtle curve of the grille, the expressive LED light signature, the cheerful stance that made the first Twingo such a hit.
Renault’s designers have leaned into that personality, crafting a one-box silhouette that feels both nostalgic and modern. Its compact length of 3.79 metres makes it perfect for tight city streets, while the pushed-out wheels and short overhangs give it real visual punch.
Colour, as ever, is part of the Twingo’s DNA. The new palette includes bold shades such as Absolute Green, Mango Yellow, and Absolute Red, each chosen to reflect the car’s bright, optimistic spirit. Details like oblong motifs on the bumpers, light clusters and wheels tie the design together playful yet precise.

Step inside, and that sense of fun continues. The cabin has been designed as a “bubble of optimism” bright, open, and refreshingly simple. The dashboard has a floating, cylindrical design, highlighted by colourful trims that echo the exterior paint. Renault even brings back the famous red hazard-light button, now with a modern transparent twist.
Every detail has been considered to make city life easier. Two independent sliding rear seats allow you to choose between generous boot space (up to 360 litres) or more legroom for passengers. Storage solutions abound, with over 19 litres of open cubbies and clever compartments to keep everyday items within reach.
A dual-screen setup brings the cabin to life: a 7-inch digital driver display and a 10-inch OpenR multimedia screen, complete with Google built-in. Fun animations and sound design including original work from Jean-Michel Jarre make every journey a small celebration.
Range and Charging
Practicality is at the heart of the Twingo E-Tech Electric’s appeal. Its 27.5 kWh LFP battery offers a WLTP range of up to 163 miles, ideal for urban use. LFP (lithium iron phosphate) technology has been chosen for its cost-effectiveness, durability, and sustainability cutting reliance on scarce materials like nickel and cobalt, and lowering the car’s overall carbon footprint by around 60% compared with a petrol equivalent.
Charging is designed to be simple. Every model comes with a 6.6 kW AC charger as standard, replenishing the battery from 10% to 100% in just over four hours on a home wallbox. For longer journeys, an optional 11 kW AC and 50 kW DC charging system cuts that time to just 30 minutes for 10–80%.
The system is also bidirectional, meaning it can power external devices via Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) or feed energy back to the grid with Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capability an innovative step toward smarter, more sustainable living.
Performance
Lightweight and lively, the Twingo E-Tech Electric makes the most of its 60 kW (82 hp) motor. It sprints from 0–31 mph in just 3.85 seconds, making it ideal for quick city getaways, while a top speed of 81 mph ensures it’s comfortable on the open road too.
The One Pedal driving mode , available on the Techno trim , allows near-single-pedal control, making stop-start traffic smoother and more intuitive. Efficiency is exceptional, thanks to aerodynamic detailing, underfloor fairing, and smart regenerative braking.
This is a car designed not just to get you from A to B, but to make the journey easy, fun, and economical.
Availability
The Twingo E-Tech Electric will roll off the production line at Renault’s Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia, a hub of industrial excellence already gearing up for this next-generation city car.
