Sleep Comfortably in Your EV This Summer

If you're planning an EV road trip this summer, Škoda has introduced a feature that could make overnight stops far more comfortable.

The latest update to the MyŠkoda app introduces Camp Mode, allowing drivers to maintain a comfortable cabin temperature while parked overnight or during extended breaks. Whether you're stopping at a campsite, taking a break on a long journey, or simply enjoying the outdoors, your electric car can now double as a surprisingly comfortable place to rest.

It's another example of how electric vehicles continue to offer practical benefits beyond simply getting from A to B.

At a Glance

  • Camp Mode is now available via the MyŠkoda app (version 8.14).

  • Maintains your chosen cabin temperature while parked.

  • Available on Škoda's electric vehicle range, including the Elroq, Enyaq, Epiq and upcoming Space (formerly Project Peaq).

  • No dealer visit or software update required (providing Škoda Connect services are active).

  • Requires at least 30% battery charge to activate.

  • Ideal for road trips, camping, festivals and overnight stops.

What is Škoda Camp Mode?

Camp Mode is a new feature within the MyŠkoda app that allows drivers to remotely control the vehicle's climate system while the car is parked.

Instead of switching the heating or air conditioning off after a short period, Camp Mode maintains your chosen cabin temperature for an extended time, making the interior comfortable enough to relax, rest or even sleep in.

During hot summer weather, the system can keep the cabin cool overnight. In colder months, it can maintain a warm interior without leaving the vehicle running, one of the many advantages of an electric vehicle.

For drivers who enjoy camping, festivals or spontaneous road trips, it's a simple feature that makes a noticeable difference.

Which Škoda EVs Get Camp Mode?

Camp Mode is being rolled out across Škoda's fully electric range, including:

  • Škoda Elroq

  • Škoda Enyaq

  • Škoda Epiq

  • Future electric models, including the production version of Project Peaq (currently expected to launch as the Škoda Space).

The feature is available regardless of the vehicle's age or existing software version, provided:

  • Škoda Connect services are active

  • MyŠkoda app version 8.14 or later is installed

There's no need to visit a dealership, as the functionality is delivered through the mobile app.

How Much Battery Does Camp Mode Use?

To activate Camp Mode, Škoda recommends the vehicle has at least 30% battery charge.

While climate control naturally uses energy, electric vehicles are highly efficient when stationary compared with leaving an internal combustion engine idling. For most overnight stays, the energy used to maintain a comfortable temperature is relatively modest compared with the overall battery capacity.

If you're planning to sleep in your EV during a road trip, it's always sensible to arrive with sufficient charge and know where your next charging stop will be.

Why Camp Mode Makes EV Road Trips Even Better

One of the biggest misconceptions about electric vehicles is that they're only suitable for commuting.

In reality, modern EVs are becoming increasingly capable of supporting longer journeys, weekends away and even camping holidays.

Camp Mode adds another practical benefit by allowing you to:

  • Stay cool during summer heatwaves.

  • Keep warm on colder evenings.

  • Take comfortable breaks without leaving the vehicle running.

  • Enjoy greater flexibility when travelling.

  • Turn your EV into a practical overnight stop.

Whether you're exploring the Scottish Highlands, touring the Welsh coast or heading into Europe, it's another feature that demonstrates how EV technology continues to evolve around real-world driving.

Planning an EV Road Trip This Summer?

If you're heading away this summer, preparation is key.

Before setting off, it's worth checking:

  • Tyre condition and pressures.

  • Charging cables and adapters.

  • Route planning and charging locations.

  • Vehicle software updates.

  • Breakdown cover.

  • Charging apps and payment methods.

A little planning goes a long way towards making your journey stress-free.
