The Model Y Long Range RWD boasts an impressive range of 373 miles (WLTP)

Tesla has unveiled a new variant in the Model Y lineup, replacing the current entry-level option of their best-selling electric vehicle. This version, the Tesla Model Y Long Range RWD features several technical updates, making it the most efficient Model Y to date in terms of miles per kWh.

Previously, the long-range Model Y was exclusively available with a dual-motor (AWD). However, in this new configuration known as ‘Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive,’ Tesla has incorporated a single motor, a higher-density battery pack, a heat pump, and specialised tyres with reduced rolling resistance to enhance efficiency.

This new model will replace of the Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive, which has a lower WLTP-rated range of 283 miles.

The new variant boasts an impressive WLTP range of 373 miles, comparable to few electric SUVs, including the Ford Explorer, which has a range of 374 miles.

This family SUV can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.7 seconds. It achieves a top speed of 135 mph and features a maximum charging speed of 250 kW, enabling you to add 150 miles of range in only 15 minutes.

This new model retains the same interior and exterior design as existing versions. Whether Tesla plans to update the Model Y design to align with the Model 3 remains to be seen.
