IAA Transportation in Hanover presents the most sustainable solutions for the transport and logistics sector. The event features commercial vehicles entering production, innovative concept vehicles, and models set to hit the roads shortly, with several new vehicles making their first appearance.
The highlights so far:
BYD (Build Your Dreams)
The Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD, also known as 'Build Your Dreams', entered the UK market in 2023. After introducing passenger vehicles such as the Atto 3, Dolphin, and Seal. Since then BYD have also introduced the ETP3, a Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) that provides a payload capacity of 780kg, and a fully electric range of 144 miles (WLTP).
This year at IAA Transportation, BYD have debuted several new EVs designed for the European Commercial Market. Including:
BYD E-Vali
- Offers a complete electric range of 135-155miles (WLTP) and can be rapidly charged from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes.
- Features an impressive cargo volume capacity of up to 17.9 m³ for the 4.25t model, along with a substantial payload of 1450 kg (dependent on variant)
BYD EYT 2.0

- A pure-electric yard tractor ideal for use in ports, terminals, and distribution centers.
- With a Gross Combined Weight (GCW) of up to 75 tons, the BYD EYT 2.0 is designed to be agile and highly maneuverable.
- Featuring the BYD Blade Battery, it provides up to 16 hours of working time and allows for quick and efficient charging between shifts to enhance productivity.
BYD ETM6

- Tailored to meet high specifications for the European market, the 7.5-ton pure-electric BYD ETM6 was unveiled in Hannover.
- The BYD ETM6 offers a range of up to 200 kilometers (124 miles) when fully loaded, and its DC charging capability (120 kW) allows it to charge from 20% to 100% in just one hour.
BYD ETH8 - eTruck
- The ETH8 is a 19-ton electric truck featuring a versatile platform for various operations and two wheelbase options.
- It provides a range of 250 kilometers (155 miles).
- Similar to the BYD ETM6, it utilizes BYD’s eTruck platform, which includes a five-in-one controller for optimal performance and efficiency, as well as simplified maintenance.
- It boasts a substantial 255 kWh battery capacity, which can be charged from 20% to 100% in two hours.
Kia
Kia is enhancing its electric vehicle (EV) lineup. In addition to the e-Niro, EV6, EV9, and the newly launched EV3, The brand recently showcased its new Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) concept at the IAA Hanover, marking its European premiere.
As Kia ventures into the light commercial vehicle (LCV) market, it introduces a series of concept vehicles designed on its innovative battery electric vehicle (BEV) platform, specifically tailored for LCVs.
The PBV concept features a variety of fully electric vans and people carriers. Kia PBV Electric Van range is set to be available for purchase in 2026, along with more variants rolling out in the following years.
PV5 - People Mover & Mobile Workshop | PV5 high roof

- The Kia Concept PV5 is the first dedicated PBV from Kia, expected to launch in 2025.
- Customers will have the flexibility to select a configuration that fits their needs, with three body types available: Basic (Passenger), Van (Delivery), and Chassis Cab.
PV7 - Cargo Delivery & Multi Van

- The Kia Concept PV7 serves as the second PBV and features the largest cargo capacity in the lineup.
All Kia PBVs can charge from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes, allowing for quick recharging during lunch breaks or client visits.
Kia PBVs will support 22kW AC charging for improved efficiency and lower costs, as well as fast charging capabilities of up to 150kW DC. Furthermore, Kia PBVs will be equipped with vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, enabling them to serve as mobile energy sources for powering devices, tools, refrigeration units, emergency equipment, and more.
Renault
Renault's current lineup of electric vans, including the Kangoo, Master, and Trafic, will soon be expanded with the introduction of the Renault Estafette. This concept electric van, showcased at IAA Hanover, is expected to enter production within the next two years.
Renault Estafette

- The Estafette Concept retains more than just round headlights from Renault's iconic 1959 van; both models exemplify innovation and practicality.
- The new Estafette 4.0 features the FlexEVan electric platform, specifically designed to meet the needs of delivery drivers, tradespeople, and retailers.
- With dimensions of 4.87 x 1.92 meters, the Estafette Concept is comparable to the Kangoo L2, which measures 4.91 x 1.86 meters. However, the Estafette Concept has a taller profile at 2.59 meters, compared to 1.85 meters for the Kangoo, giving it a notably vertical appearance.
Volkswagen
Volkswagen (VW) Commercial Vehicles showcased an impressive array of new models at IAA Transportation 2024 in Hanover, featuring fully electric options that will join the ID.Buzz Cargo.
e-Transporter e-Shuttle, and e-Caravelle

- Generation 7 is here: These vehicles provide enhanced space, increased payload capacity, higher maximum trailer weight, and a professional cockpit design.
- Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles presents the new Transporter in various configurations: a panel van, a Kombi, a Shuttle, and a double cab with a platform body and extended wheelbase.
- The e-Transporter and e-Transporter Shuttle are introduced with power outputs of 136 PS and 218 PS, respectively. Both models feature a battery capacity of 64 kWh (net).
