The Volkswagen ID. Buzz GTX has made its debut as the most potent Bulli variant to date

Receiving the renowned 'GTX' treatment from Volkswagen, the ID. Buzz stands out as the most powerful Bulli in series production. It offers versatility with two wheelbase options and two battery capacities, presenting as a 5-, 6-, or 7-seater model, all featuring standard all-wheel drive for optimal performance and traction across various driving scenarios.

The ID. Buzz GTX gives buyers the choice between two wheelbase variations: a standard version equipped with a 79kWh battery and an extended wheelbase model with an enhanced 86kWh battery and an additional 25cm of length.

Boasting two electric drive motors, the front axle is powered by an 80 kW motor, while the rear axle is driven by a robust 210 kW motor, combining to deliver an all-wheel-drive system. Energy for these motors is sourced from either a 79 kWh or 86 kWh battery, both of which can charge from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes using DC fast chargers.

Enhanced with an additional 100 kW (136 PS) of power and the 4MOTION drive system, the ID. Buzz GTX elevates its towing capability. The standard wheelbase variant can effortlessly tow up to 1,800 kg (braked), while the long-wheelbase model can handle a maximum of 1,600 kg. This represents an increase of 800 kg and 600 kg, respectively, providing significant advantages on challenging surfaces, especially when towing trailers like boats or horse trailers on slippery terrain.

Internally, upgrades include refined touches such as black headliners, exclusive diamond-patterned seat upholstery in black micro fleece, and distinctive red stitching reminiscent of high-performance VW models. Optional features like a head-up display and a panoramic sunroof with adjustable transparency further enhance the interior.

Configuration options vary between the standard and long-wheelbase models, with seating arrangements available as five-seaters with a 40:60 split three-seat bench in the second row or six-seaters with two individual seats in each of the second and third rows. The long-wheelbase version will introduce a seven-seater variant with additional seating options. The flexibility extends to the adjustability of the second-row seats, allowing movement by 150 mm or 200 mm depending on the wheelbase length.

New technological features include an optional head-up display and upgraded infotainment systems, boasting improved menu navigation, graphics, and faster processing capabilities. The touchscreen size has been increased to 12.9 inches, and illuminated touch controls for temperature and volume adjustments have been added. Additionally, the new IDA voice assistant operates through intuitive voice commands.

While specifics regarding UK specifications, pricing, and release dates for the ID. Buzz GTX are forthcoming, the model promises an exciting and innovative addition to the Volkswagen lineup.
