Volkswagen has officially unveiled the all-new ID. Polo GTI, marking a significant milestone in the brand's performance heritage. As the first fully electric GTI, the ID. Performance Meets Electric Innovation
Powered by a 166 kW (226 PS) electric motor, the new ID. Polo GTI accelerates from 0-62 mph in just 6.8 seconds, delivering instant torque and responsive performance through its front-wheel-drive layout. A standard electronically controlled front differential lock helps maximise grip and cornering performance, ensuring the driving experience remains true to the GTI name.
Volkswagen has also equipped the model with an adaptive DCC sports suspension, progressive steering and a dedicated GTI driving profile. At the touch of a button, drivers can unlock a more dynamic setup, with enhanced power delivery, sharper handling and unique GTI-themed cockpit graphics.
Impressive Range and Fast Charging
The ID. Polo GTI is fitted with a 52 kWh battery, delivering a provisional WLTP range of up to 424 kilometres (263 miles). Fast-charging capabilities allow the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in approximately 24 minutes when connected to a compatible DC rapid charger.
This combination of performance, practicality and charging convenience makes the ID. Polo GTI an attractive option for drivers looking to transition to electric without sacrificing excitement behind the wheel.
A GTI Design for the Electric Age
The ID. Polo GTI retains many of the styling cues that have defined GTI models for generations. Signature elements include the iconic red accent line across the front, distinctive GTI badging and sporty honeycomb detailing. Standard 19-inch alloy wheels and IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights further enhance its athletic appearance.
At the rear, a unique split roof spoiler, illuminated lighting signature and muscular diffuser create a modern interpretation of classic GTI design.
Inside the Electric GTI
The interior blends heritage-inspired design with advanced digital technology. Premium sports seats feature a modern interpretation of the classic GTI tartan upholstery, while red accents and contrast stitching reinforce the model's sporting character.
A 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit sits alongside a large 12.9-inch infotainment display, with a retro-inspired display mode paying tribute to the original Golf GTI. Volkswagen has even included nostalgic design touches such as cassette-style graphics within the infotainment system.
More Space, More Versatility
Despite its compact dimensions, the ID. Polo GTI offers increased interior space compared with its combustion-engine predecessor. Boot capacity grows to 441 litres, expanding to 1,240 litres with the rear seats folded down.
The model also offers impressive practicality, including optional towing capability of up to 1.2 tonnes and compatibility with bicycle carriers for active lifestyles.
Advanced Driver Assistance Technology
Volkswagen's latest Connected Travel Assist system will be available, offering enhanced semi-autonomous driving support. New features include traffic light recognition, which can automatically slow the vehicle to a stop when required, as well as one-pedal driving functionality for smoother urban driving.
