Launched on 15th July 2025, the new UK Electric Car Grant is designed to encourage more drivers to transition to electric vehicles (EVs) by offering substantial discounts on approved models. With two tiers of savings for vehicles priced at £37,000 or under, the scheme is helping make electric cars more accessible across the UK:
-
£3,750 (Band 1) – maximum grant for the most sustainable EVs
-
£1,500 (Band 2) – partial grant for qualifying vehicles
Until recently, just over 20 vehicles qualified for Band 2, and no model had yet achieved Band 1 status, until now.
Ford Leads the Way
Ford has become the first car brand in the UK to secure eligibility for the full £3,750 grant. Both the Puma Gen-E electric crossover and the E-Tourneo Courier have met the government’s sustainability criteria and will now be included in Band 1.
This achievement makes Ford a key player in driving UK EV adoption, offering buyers significant financial incentives to switch to electric.
