The ECG provides two tiers of savings for vehicles £37,00 or under:

Supported by £650 million in government funding, this scheme is expected to continue until the conclusion of the 2028–29 financial year, or until the allocated funds are exhausted.
Eligibility and Standards
To gain Approval from the Department for Transport (DfT) and be eligible for the grant, vehicles must fulfill stringent environmental and sustainability criteria, including:

Reduced lifecycle CO₂ emissions

Compliance with science-based targets for sustainability
Only new registrations made from July 16, 2025, onwards qualify, and the grant is applied automatically,there's no need for a separate application. The discount is incorporated into the vehicle's purchase price by the seller.
Latest Models Added to the £1,500 Band 2 List
Following the announcement of the first four qualifying Citroën models last week, three more manufacturers now have eligible vehicles under the Band 2 grant:

All the above models are priced under £37,000 and meet the ECG’s sustainability requirements, making them eligible for the £1,500 grant. To date (11th August 2025) no vehicles are eligble for the Band 1 Grant of £3,750.
