As we near the end of 2024, we're sharing our Top 10 EVs that are due to hit the UK roads in 2025

As 2024 comes to a close, we are eagerly anticipating the arrival of new electric vehicles (EVs) on UK roads. While some models are expected to debut in early 2025, others are teasing launches before 2026, with a few still without a confirmed date, though they promise that orders will be available before the next year ends.

 

Our list of the top 10 upcoming EVs features a diverse range, including SUVs, seven-seaters, compact city cars and manufacturers bringing electric cars to tthe UK for the first time.

 

BYD Sealion 7


Joining BYDs electric line up, which includes the BYD Dolphin, the BYD Atto 3 and the range topping BYD Seal, The Sealion 7 is a mid-sized all-electric SUV that made its debut in China in 2023. It is poised to compete with the Tesla Model Y, when it lands in the UK in the coming months.

This model marks the first European version to utilise an upgraded e-Platform. In the UK, it will initially be available in a high-performance dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration, boasting a top speed of 134 mph and a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 4.5 seconds.

The BYD Sealion 7 Comfort RWD and Design AWD variants come with an 82.5kWh battery for 298 miles and 282 miles of range respectively. At the top of the line-up, the Exellence AWD gets a 91.3kWh battery for 311 miles of range.

The Sealion 7 expected to arrive on UK soil before the end of the year, orders opening in early 2025.

Hyundai Ioniq 9


Following the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6, the Hyundai IONIQ 9, a seven-seat SUV, is expected to arrive on UK roads by late 2025.

As the brand's flagship electric vehicle, the IONIQ 9 boasts an advanced powertrain system, featuring a high-voltage, floor-mounted NCM lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 110.3 kWh. It is anticipated to achieve a WLTP all-electric range of 385 miles.

The Long-Range RWD model is equipped with a 160 kW rear motor, while the Long-Range AWD version adds a 70 kW front motor. For those seeking performance, the Performance AWD models come with 160 kW motors at both the front and rear.

The IONIQ 9's flat floor design allows for versatile seating arrangements, accommodating either six or seven passengers. The Relaxation Seats in the first and second rows feature a Dynamic Touch Massage function, fully reclining with a leg rest for maximum comfort, allowing up to four passengers to relax during charging, depending on the configuration.

With the third-row seats folded down there are up to 1,323 litres for luggage. Even with all three rows in use, it provides up to 620 litres of space, nearly doubling the capacity offered by competitors like the Kia EV9 (330l) or Volvo EX90 (310l).

 

Škoda Elroq


This compact SUV serves as the electric counterpart to the ICE Karoq and is positioned just below the Škoda Enyaq. The Elroq marks the brand’s second all-electric model developed on the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform.

The Elroq replaces the classic grille with a glossy black Tech-Deck. It boasts a sturdy bumper with a Unique Dark Chrome insert and a revamped "four eyes" headlight design. Notably, it is the first model to showcase Škoda lettering on both the bonnet and steering wheel, available in the exclusive Timiano Green color.

With dimensions of 4,488 millimeters in length, 1,884 millimeters in width, and 1,625 millimeters in height, the Škoda Elroq has an ample wheelbase of 2,765 millimeters. This places it alongside competitors like the Hyundai Kona, Kia Niro, Volvo EC40, and BYD Atto 3.

The Škoda Elroq offers three battery sizes and a variety of powertrains. The base Elroq 50 delivers 125 kW, while the Elroq 85x comes with all-wheel drive. The Elroq 85 boasts a range exceeding 560 km (WLTP) and supports rapid charging up to 175 kW, enabling its 82 kWh battery to recharge from 10 to 80% in just 28 minutes. Smaller battery options in the Elroq 50 and 60 can recharge in 25 minutes or less.

Set to arrive on UK roads in early 2025, customers will have the choice of four well-known trim levels: SE, SE L, Edition, and SportLine, each featuring an impressive array of standard equipment.

Renault 4 E-Tech 


The Renault 4-Etech follows the introduction of the new Renault 5 E-Tech, which shares 68% components, this retro-futuristic fully electric model is set to launch in the UK by mid-2025.

This new Renault 4 pays tribute to its predecessor, showcasing design elements inspired by the original. Key features include a distinctive 1.45m front grille with illuminated accents, updated rear lights, and design details such as the bonnet lines and rear quarter window shape. An electric canvas roof, operable by button or voice, enhances the cabin’s open-air feel.

With 420 liters of boot space, it includes practical features like lashing hooks and storage compartments, while a folding rear seat adds to its versatility. Built on the AmpR Small platform, the vehicle offers improved ground clearance, refined suspension and a  tight turning radius.

Two powertrain options are available, both equipped with a heat pump, bidirectional charging (V2L/V2G), and a 52 kWh battery utilising NMC technology. This setup powers a 110 kW motor, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in under 8.5 seconds and providing a range of up to 250 miles. A 40 kWh battery option is also offered, delivering a range of up to 186 miles.

 

Ford Puma Gen- E


In 2025, the new Ford Puma, which is the brand's best-selling car in Europe, will be added to Ford's all-electric lineup, which includes the Capri, Explorer, and Mustang Mach-E.

The Ford Puma Gen-E features an impressive range of up to 233 miles (376 km) on a full charge (WLTP). With a fast charger, it can reach 80 percent battery in approximately 23 minutes from just 10 percent.

The exterior design captures the essence of the latest-generation Puma, showcasing distinctive aerodynamic enhancements. A bold "shield" design replaces the conventional grille, giving it a fresh appearance inspired by the Ford Mustang Mach-E electric SUV. A sporty rear spoiler and unique alloy wheels further enhance the design while improving aerodynamics for better performance.

In the UK, the Ford Puma Gen-E will be available in two trim levels:

  • Select: Includes 17" alloy wheels, ambient lighting, navigation, and a high-speed 5G modem. 
  • Premium: Features 18" alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlights, and a B&O sound system with an integrated soundbar.

BYD Seagull 


Situated below the Dolphin in BYD's vehicle lineup, the Seagull features a similar design. With a compact length of just 3.78 meters, the BYD Seagull is significantly smaller than the Peugeot e-208 and Vauxhall Corsa E , and falls into the city car category alongside the Fiat 500e.

Currently available in China, the BYD Seagull offers two battery options: a 30kWh and a 39kWh variant. Both use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology and BYD's innovative Blade technology. According to Chinese battery assessments, the estimated electric ranges are 190 miles for the 30kWh pack and 252 miles for the 39kWh pack.

The European variant of the Seagull is expected to feature some design modifications compared to the Chinese version released last year. BYD may implement subtle updates and possibly increase its dimensions to meet Euro NCAP safety standards.

Inside, the BYD Seagull is equipped with two screens: a 5-inch digital instrument cluster positioned behind the steering wheel and a large 12.8-inch infotainment screen located on the dashboard.

The BYD Seagull has gained popularity in China, with a price equivalent to approximately £8,000 in the UK. However, due to market differences, it is unlikely to maintain that price when it arrives in the UK.

 

Smart #5


Smart, a German brand known for their city cars, operates as a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Geely since 2019. It has expanded its lineup with crossovers built on Geely’s electric SEA architecture, including the Smart #1 and #3.

The upcoming Smart #5, an SUV launching in 2025, features a bold design with a boxy shape and short overhangs, measuring 4,705mm in length. It offers an optional ‘Adventurers' Collection’ off-road package and includes frameless doors and a panoramic glass roof.

Inside, the vehicle boasts three screens, including dual 13-inch AMOLED displays and a 10.3-inch ultra HD display, along with a 25.6-inch augmented reality head-up display and a premium Sennheiser audio system.

Practicality is enhanced with 34 storage compartments and flat-folding seats. The Smart #5 is expected to feature both single and dual-motor options, an 800v architecture, and a 100kWh battery, offering around 350 miles of range with rapid charging capabilities.

 

XPeng G6


In November 2024, XPeng announced a partnership with International Motors Limited and revealed plans to launch in the UK in 2025. Thmodel set to hit UK roads is the XPeng G6, a midsize coupe-SUV that is comparable in size to the Tesla Model Y.

 

The XPeng G6 will be offered in a Single Motor RWD variant as well as a Dual Motor all-wheel drive option. Although these models have not yet undergone WLTP testing, ranges are estimated to be between 360 to 469 miles, according to the Chinese Light Duty Passenger Car Test Cycle (CLTC).

The G6 is the first vehicle to utilise XPeng's new SEPA 2.0 electric car platform, which introduces several advancements over the architecture used in previous XPeng models, including an innovative 800V electrical system that supports DC charging at rates of up to 480kW.

Inside the G6, drivers will find a sleek and minimalist cabin, featuring a twin-spoke, oval-shaped steering wheel, as well as 10.2-inch and 15.0-inch infotainment displays that run on XPeng's Xmart 4.0 operating system. The vehicle also includes a heat pump-based air conditioning system.

With seating for up to five, the G6 offers two rows of seats and a boot capacity of 571 liters, which expands to 1,374 liters when the rear seats are folded down.

 

DS No8


The DS No8 is a groundbreaking all-electric coupe SUV from the French luxury brand, aimed at rivaling models like the Tesla Model Y and Polestar 4. Scheduled to launch in a few months time, UK delvieries are expected towards the end of 2025.

Its fastback design is enhanced by features inspired by the 2020 DS Aero Lounge concept, showcasing sleek headlights and a striking grille.

With dimensions of 4,820mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,580mm in height, the DS No8 provides comfortable seating for five and boasts 620-litre boot capacity.

Constructed on the Stellantis STLA Medium platform, it offers generous interior space despite its stylishly sloped roofline.

Customers can select from two luxurious trim levels, Étoile and Pallas, both featuring high-end materials and an ambient lighting system with eight color choices. 

 

The DS No8 comes with multiple powertrain options, including a 74kWh battery delivering 227bhp, a 97.2kWh battery generating 242bhp, and a flagship AWD Long Range model with 345bhp. All versions are equipped with regenerative braking and DS Active Scan Suspension for an enhanced driving experience.

 

Range Rover Electric

The highly anticipated Range Rover Electric is set to be available for pre-order in 2025.

The Range Rover EV, marking Jaguar Land Rover's first electric initiative since the Jaguar I-Pace, has been hinted at since 2021. Initial press releases indicated that the fully electric Range Rover would launch in 2024. However, prototypes have been undergoing testing in the Arctic Circle and the United Arab Emirates in preparation for the 2025 release.

Whilst details remain limited, and there is no confirmation the Range Rover EV will hit UK roads in 2025, JLR have recently confirmed they will begin welcoming reservations in 2025.

 

 


Fiat Topolino 


Set to arrive in the UK in the summer of 2025, the Fiat Topolino is not a traditional car but a quadricycle, classified as an L6E vehicle, similar to the Citroën AMI. This classification distinguishes it from regular cars, aligning it more closely with mopeds or scooters. However, the Topolino provides the added safety of a roof, doors, and seatbelts.

Inspired by the Citroën AMI and featuring retro styling, the Fiat Topolino is designed with young drivers in mind. It aims to introduce a new perspective on urban mobility that is both sustainable and accessible. With a top speed of 28 mph and powered by a 6 kW (8.2 hp) electric motor, the Topolino boasts a driving range of up to 47 miles on a single charge. Its 5.4 kWh battery can be fully recharged in about four hours using a standard household outlet.
